Ernesto Sabato, one of the most influential people in my training has had cultural and spiritual.

I think Sabato is a paradigm of intellectual development, a lucid mind and endowed with extraordinary analytical. A man whose scientific training of the highest quality, Sabato took part in the early atomic energy, Sabato doctorate in 1938 at age 27 and won a scholarship to nuclear physics research at the Laboratory Curie, Irene and Frederic Joliot- Curie. He developed his doctoral thesis on thermodynamics, specialists who bring much to the technological development of the twentieth century. His deep insight rationalist all his life led him to question the great and eternal questions about the man, humanity and its destiny in the cosmos.

His personality, very demanding and critical spirit, carried to extremes, which only a genius is normal and understandable - and that the rest of humanity cross out of mental illness. His personality lead us to walk very complicated world to know, did not prevent an absolute commitment to the common man, human nature at its most primary, violence, hatred and cruelty, can never be accepted by minds and spirits high wise.

As a very contradictory man made decisions for the society in which he lived his youth and maturity and intellectual life. Being at the top of the science of his time, yet secure and leave to begin a journey full of uncertainties which as he said, there are people that 2 +2 is 5.

Above their academic and artistic achievements, the figure of Sabato for me, is the conscience and honesty, carried to its fullest life. Apart from their antagonisms and political struggles, Sabato is a strong bet to find the causes of the idiosyncrasies of humanity, finding the balance between reason and passion, good and evil, mysticism and agnosticism. Science is based on mathematics and observation of facts, the contemplation of nature and knowledge of its laws, but Where are we driving? What are the prices we pay for their benefits?

Sabato chose the man with all its contradictions, firm in his criticism of him and his achievements but also hopeful in his testimony that the best can come from the same womb, through knowledge and adherence to historical truth. Sabato unwittingly became "a symbol of humanity and sense of justice." Ernesto Sabato taught me to understand what I was wrong: "You can not walk both sides, crossing the river by bridges easy or shallow areas, choose a bank and follow it until you reach the huge lead common to all ocean shores.

The art of literature is the search for better worlds that our imagination creates and ask the eternal question: what is the man immersed in his own system? We do not know. Art is thus a science shelter and finding our critical uncertainties.

Sabato lived between two antagonistic poles, throughout his life. Surrendered to the ideal of a new man took sides with his conscience and an end. Change the questions of his scientific world - who knew very well from first hand and seeks answers on both sides of this timeless existential Heraclitean river but in the end all and despite the difficulty of living and our hopes, we keep asking Tues find what end? We know that with imagination we change the world and overcome old fears ancestral science and technology develop "a better world" But something is wrong with this scheme, fears only change in location or size and the inherent spirituality of humanity can not find your channel and its banks. We suffer the silence of emptiness, the lack of certainty of our intimate consciousness. We know the mechanisms of life and death, we come to understand how the universe was like before everything we paradoxically feeding an artificial system that forces us to be what we sense that we can not remain.

Sabato got it and walked the two sides of the reason and myth, certainty and doubt, realized that we can only hope for mankind without prejudices to reach adulthood without fear, it's a long journey that can only be achieved with the will of logos and overcoming our fears.

Ernesto Sabato died at his home in holy places April 30 , 2011 was a writer , essayist , physicist and painter . He wrote three novels: The tunnel , On Heroes and Tombs and Abaddon the destroyer , and countless essays on the human condition. His latest book "Before the end" is considered his living will.
